I'm pretty sure that if they'd declared 214 runs behind at 22-5 in a match they needed to win, or at least draw and get batting bonus points to stay up, they'd have been slapped with an enormous points deduction that would have ensured their relegation even if they'd somehow managed to win their game.

Hampshire draw, Middlesex relegated.

Middlesex relegated because someone shot their bolt at The Oval.

If Hampshire go down I bet Reece Topley will be feeling justified in his decision to leave Essex and join Hampshire to further his career and England prospects.

Win or draw and Hants stay up.

Re: Essex county cricket 2017 thread
No they won't.

ECB match liaison officer (think that's the job title) has declared that the pitch was 'below average ' for excessive turn...

Has to be 'poor' for point deduction to become possible.

Kevan gutted about that on national radio.

Do Hants have to win or just avoid defeat?

Kevan James is the most myopic commentator I have ever heard.

The green eyed bitter cunt
